Num 13:26 Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the wilderness…they brought back a word … and showed them the fruit.
2nd principle: Gather information about the land. 12 men brought back reports and a taste of the fruitfulness of the land. Vs. 27, “They told him, …” we went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is it’s fruit”. Here comes the obstacle, vs. 28. “Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong and the cities are fortified and very large”. Can you imagine people’s first reaction when they heard about the abundance of the land? excitement. What melted their hearts was hearing of the obstacles in the land, fortified cities and giants.
Out of the 12 people that spoke of the richness of the land, 10 added the reality of the obstacles. Gathering information about the land is to assist us in deciding if we still embark on the mission or terminate. We can be the channel by which He will glorify Himself when He brings us through facing giants in our lands as He provides for us according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phi 4:20). The greatness will depend on your confession on who you rely on. Whose report will you believe?
