He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

Above All Else

Psa 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my DEFENSE ; I shall not be greatly moved

In the movie “Rocky III,” Rocky Balboa faced a formidable opponent in Clubber Lang. Despite being physically outmatched in terms of size and strength, Rocky discovered a clever tactic that worked to his advantage. He would strategically shield a part of his body his opponent targeted with punches. By doing so, his opponent would exert all his force and energy into punching his shield (defense), causing minimal damage to Rocky. As his opponent grew tired from relentless punching, Rocky would seize the opportunity to strike back. In shielding, Rocky reserved strength to fight back.

Similarly, Eph 6 discusses the importance of putting on the whole armor of God. This includes guarding our waist with truth, wearing the breastplate of righteousness, and preparing our feet with the gospel of peace. However, above all else (vs 16), we are instructed to take up the shield of faith. This shield of faith enables us to extinguish all the fiery attacks of the wicked one. It serves as our assurance that God is present to protect us. By placing our confidence and trust solely in God, we can find refuge and salvation.
