He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

The Spiritual Duty Of Men In The Home

Jos 24:14-15, 14 Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve “…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord“,

Joshua called on Israel to declare in a public and solemn manner that they will be faithful and obedient to the God of Israel. He bid them to do what he was willing to do. He resolved to be the spiritual leader of his family and urged the rest to do the same.

Men ought to set spiritual climate in the home as priority. A number have been successful outside the home but failed at home due to wrong order of priorities. Jesus already died for the church and husbands are to die for their wives and children, and not sacrifice them at the altar of their ministry or jobs. God may give you a task, but He will not violate His word concerning families.

Joshua was a very busy man yet he would not let his family be second to His work. It was Paul Washer who said (paraphrased) “What shall it profit a man if he shall gain a whole ministry and loose his family”
