He Has Magnified His Word, Psalm 138:2

The Necessity Of Confidence

2Sa 12:13-16, 13 …“I have sinned against the LORD.” And Nathan said to David, “The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die 14 Nevertheless, … the child who is born to you shall die.” 15 …And the LORD afflicted the child…and he became sick 16 David therefore sought God on behalf of the child. And David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground.

David through Nathan was reproved by the Lord for stealing a man’s wife, impregnated her, had her husband killed and tried to hide it all. Under conviction, he repented and was forgiven. His life would be spared by God but not that of his newborn son through the act of adultery.

It is indeed hard to seek God in your failures and for what is projected to die. David will teach us what it means to have confidence in God in good and bad times. Jer 17:7-8 reads 7 But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him…” NIV uses the word “Confidence” after “trust”, both mean the same but “confidence” in my judgement has greater weight. To “trust” is to believe, “Confidence” takes it a step further, it moves one from believing to “relying”.
