Pro 4:23 Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life
That which is TREASURED (cherished) from the previous devotional must be GUARDED (safeguarded). To GUARD is to shield/protect from harm. You can only guard what you treasure/cherish. Pro 4:23 states “Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life“. You can first guard by what comes out of your mouth. Truth be told, we can be together and still feel vulnerable and exposed.
Wives desire to be loved, secured and protected in by their husbands. Harsh words that stem from the heart, fueled by anger, strip away the protection that a wife yearns for. Conversely, wives can safeguard the self-worth that their husbands need. A husband’s primary need is respect and support from his wife. If he feels exposed to critical attacks instead of being guarded by respect and encouragement, he may withdraw. How often do we hear husbands expressing gratitude to their wives for believing in them and motivating them to succeed? By safeguarding your spouse, you serve them because I already stated, love is an action word, it implies duty of serving. We shall conclude with NURTURE in the next devotional.
