Jhn 9:28 Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.
In the beginning, after receiving a miracle, most individuals went their separate ways. However, there was one man who spoke highly of Christ, even though he was cursed by others for being His disciple. To them, they followed Moses as their point person to God. They preferred Moses to Christ, and chose to be the disciples of Moses the servant, rather than of Christ, God the Son.
These individuals boasted about being descendants of Abraham and followers of Moses. However, they failed to comprehend that the One they were rejecting was greater than both Abraham and Moses, as He was the creator of both. During the transfiguration, Moses and Elijah appeared alongside Jesus, and the three disciples present came to understand that the focus was solely on Christ. There was a perfect harmony between Christ and Moses; Moses prepared the way for Christ, and Christ perfected Moses, so that they could be disciples of Moses who pointed them to Christ. As stated in Gal 3:24 “Therefore the law (Moses) was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” Christ surpasses all, both individually and collectively. The others merely point towards Christ the creator, savior, and sustainer of life.
