Psa 68:34-35, 34 Ascribe strength to God; His excellence is over Israel, And His strength is in the clouds. 35 O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be God!
The term “ascribe” is defined in dictionaries as attributing or assigning to a cause, or attributing as a quality that belongs to one deserving. This verse acknowledges that God is excellent and possesses the strength to do whatever He pleases because of His ability. No force can hinder or limit Him. Psalm 115:3 states, “But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.”
Although God has the power to do as He pleases, He governs with excellence over His people Israel and the spiritual Israel. He rules with wisdom, power, and authority over all. Through His sovereign care, He protects and guides His church, which is utilized for the benefit of His people. In Gen 18:25 Abraham asks, “…Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?“
