Heb 6:10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
All strength and wisdom comes from God. God has promised of His own grace to reward the good works of His people in Christ by grace through faith. It is His promise and not off our merits. “God first gives us conquering grace, and then rewards us for it” (Charles Spurgeon). To be rewarded for what you have not earned or worked for is mind blowing
This is unsettling in our minds because it negates the necessity of prayer. The saints knowing how unworthy they are, are first equipped and given the heart to serve. God’s reward comes about as we labor for the sake of His name in ministry to the Saints. This is what it means to hold the rope financially, prayerfully, encourage ministers that go down the well to serve (draw) expecting nothing in return, but God still rewards. “17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.” (Jas 1:17-18). Faith works, love labours, hope patiently suffers all things. We should not be afraid to expect a reward from the Lord for what we have not achieved.
