Jas 1:5-6, 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, …
Wisdom is the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight. In the Bible we are not given clear instructions of what to do in every situation that is why we need biblical wisdom to discern what the will of God is and act trusting His guidance. James knowing how deficient we are in wisdom especially in trials encourages us to ask God in prayer who gives generously those who ask by faith for the right things. Wisdom will not ask why the trials but how do I get the most out of it. Wisdom will not say “get me out” but “get me through“. We should therefore not pray so much for the removal of affliction but for wisdom to make right use of it.
Wisdom is gained by this prayer, Show me, Teach me, Guide me as seen in Psa 25:4-5, “4 Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. 5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.“
