Psa 91:12-13, 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot
Two pastors (father and son) fond of handling snakes died of snake bites. They mishandled Mar 16:18 “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; …” to test the Lord. It is foolish to look for trouble in order to use this verse.
This verse is applicable to believers trouble finds. Think of Paul in Acts 28, a viper (snake) out of the fire fastened on his wrist but he shook it off into the fire and was not harmed. Trouble found him and Mar 16 was applicable to his situation. Even Jesus refused to get Himself in trouble that the Angels may rescue him as suggested by Satan but after He was ministered to by angels (Mat 4:5-). Psa 91:12 “In their hands they shall bear you up, …”. “They”, that is the angels, God’s own angels, shall in their hands cheerfully become our servants ministering to us as instructed by God when trouble finds us.
