Rom 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Some believers find it hard to testify of God’s blessings in their lives perhaps in fear of being labeled showoffs, and others who do not rejoice with them because of jealousy.
God blesses us so that we rejoice and be glad in Him and those He blesses. Can you stand to see someone blessed and together magnify and exalt His name? The streams flowing out of you will tell.
We also weep with those who weep, to first empathize (the ability to understand and share the feelings of another). To be quick to justify ourselves, judge others and throw stones shows how careless we are with each other’s feelings. We don’t have to appear sorrowful to demonstrate that we weep. Sensitivity, level of care, supportiveness are the marks of empathy.
One driven to rejoice and weep will find the need for much earnest prayer, a cry for freedom from hard, envious and selfish heart, and with a broken heart find the true way to grow sympathetic towards others. Looking to Christ, and drawing love, hope, confidence from Him.
