Mat 5:13 You are salt of earth…
There are over 14,000 uses of salt as it’s been said. A few of its uses for example, salt is used for food seasoning, preservation, melt ice, treat wounds, create thirst, prevent colors from fading on fabrics, to clean greasy pans etc. With its many uses, we understand why the Lord called us salt. He equipped believers in many ways for His work. As salt you flavor, melt hard hearts, preserve with words, minister to the spiritually wounded, create thirst for righteousness by how you live; your encouragement preserves lives etc. You don’t need to be a professional to salt someone’s life.
Salt in the shaker is only effective when used for the purpose it was gathered. To be salt and remain in the shaker does not make you effective and “…if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men“ (Matt 5:13). It was C.T. Studd in his poem who coined these words “…Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.” The salt leaves a lasting impression in the lives of those it impacts. What kind of salt are you?
