Psa 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
To seek God only for our needs is to miss to know who God is. Most of us seek His hands more than we seek His face, His heart. David a man after God’s heart gives us a starting point, and that is to delight in the Lord.
To delight is to have or take great pleasure; to be greatly pleased or rejoiced. Do we delight in who God is or only in His blessings? To delight in the Lord is to honor the glory and the holiness of God. It is to admire the greatness, praise and cherish the power of God. It is to seek and marvel at the truth, be in awe and esteem the wisdom of God. It is to behold and treasure the beauty, Majesty and the goodness of God. It is to hold and trust the faithfulness of God, obeying and respecting His commandments. It is to cherish, be amazed and give thanks for His grace. Prayers that don’t begin with delighting in God by praising, honoring, exalting, magnifying Him are weak prayers lacking power. If you prize and love the person of God, He will give you the desires of your heart that aligns with who He is to His people.
