Eph 4:1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,
A couple of weeks ago we concluded Ephesians 3, we resume our studies with chapter 4.
The apostle opens this chapter with “I therefore…” as the response to the right believing he has been teaching on in chapter 1-3. He transitions from right believing to right application (living). What you learn in class is now to be made practical in living. Good information leads to good living because right living is filtered by right believing. What you believe dictates how you live.
Paul urges or encourages believers to walk in a manner worthy of the calling, the glorious calling as he had shown us in chapter 3. The Christian has been called to the highest calling with which man has ever been honored. In this we are instructed on how to live, “6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Col 2:6-7). This is can be expressed this way, as You have received Christ, so walk in Him; as you have been rooted in Him, so grow up in Him; as you have been founded on Him, so be built up in Him.
In short he says, live out what you confess “For in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). Let your walk and conduct align with what you believe in Christ.
