Luke 5:3 …And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. (b)
Jesus in Peter’s boat sat down and taught the people the good knowledge of the Lord. Who knows what the Master taught on that day, perhaps on faith. Peter though at a distance must have listened to every word Jesus spoke. The bible says in Rom 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”, ”…it’s the word of God that gives birth to faith” (Phil Johnson).
Point #3. We must be determined to hear and live by faith. Now faith does not save or grant victory, the object of our faith does, and God is. Faith is only as good as whom you put it in. This faith comes by hearing and hearing of the word of God, which means more than reading, more than hearing a nice sermon. It will be as James says in Jam 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves”. Faith is waiting for God’s timing without doubting His love and ability. This faith has to be practical rather than theoretical.
