Luk 5:3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land… (a)
As Jesus came by the lake with the multitude, He entered Simon’s boat and asked him to push it a little further into the water from the land. Jesus purposed to use the boat not to fish but as a pulpit to teach. The boat was not built for that purpose yet the Lord used it anyway.
Point #2. We should be willing to give to the Lord everything about our lives and say “Lord, use it whichever way you want to for Your glory”. Peter was giving the boat for the use even in his disappointment and expecting nothing in return. That is the attitude we should have. That is to say, we don’t give to the Lord on the basis of what we can gain from Him, but we do it because He is worthy of it and owns it all. Christ was worthy of Peter’s obedience so are we. It’s all His and we give back to the Lord what He requires (money, time, servanthood) for His glory.
