Eph 4:1-2 1… walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 … bearing with one another in love(b),
The best Christians have need to bear one with another, and to make the best one of another. Forbearing one another in love signifies bearing their infirmities out of a principle of love with love being the motivating factor.
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). God is the foundation and fountain of love. He is love. Love is His nature (Agape love). It is the highest form of love displayed in the gospel for therein is the gift of His grace and fruit of His Spirit.
It involves faithfulness, that is love committed (1Cor 13). In the light of who God is, John provides proof of those living by loving, “..whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (1John 4:7). This is to say, we cannot truly love God and His people without being born of God. And we cannot fully love God and not love His people.
The essence of this message is this “…God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Rom 5:5). Perfect love unifies.
