Eph 6:5-8, 5 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;…
The charge is for servants to obey and work hard with sincerity of heart. To do it with fear and trembling which implies with utmost care and diligence. To work as if you own it.
Joseph’s dream was to be served, but God put him in a place to serve. He worked diligently where he was placed, and God was with him and blessed the work of his hands. Daniel at least served 4 kings faithfully. Both men did it unto the Lord, that was their motivation.
The admonition is to be careful of the drive to serve. Paul writes, “6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart 7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. ” (Eph 6:6-8). Work to please God rather than man with little to no supervision. Both Joseph and Daniel were entrusted with positions for they had proved to be trustworthy. This is working from a willing heart and God remembered them.
