Luk 24:33-34, 33 So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”
The men who were walking sad, fleeing uncertainties had renewed faith, renewed strength, and boldness. If they had any thoughts of quitting their relation to Christ before, this soon banished from their minds. They had every reason to find a place to rest their heads from the long day’s journey, but after seeing the risen Christ, they could not rest until they had brought the good news to the disciples. That very hour they traveled back to strengthen their sorrowful brethren as they were. They reported that the Lord was risen, not with doubt but with assurance.
It is the duty of those to whom Christ has manifested Himself to testify to others of what He has done for their souls. Luk 22:32 “…when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” These disciples had been comforted and were willing to go the extra mile to comfort others with the news that their Master was risen. 2Co 1:3,-4 “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
