Psa 27:13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.
David would have lost heart as he expresses or fainted or despaired unless he revived, jumpstarted his heart by boosting his faith with encouragement. Even the best saints are subject to faint as troubles become grievous and tedious. The antidote for this dilemma is, “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Pro 4:23).
Satan wages war against us in the mind/heart. David’s battle plan was to cast down, silence anything that tried to exalt itself against the knowledge of God by bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, (2Cor 10:5). This would only be possible by his way of thinking, meditating, encouraging himself to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. The just shall live by faith, they believe that they may see. From years of walking with the Lord, I find that no one can encourage me better than I encourage myself. That is to say, if I don’t lay a foundation, all encouragements from others will crumble where there is no foundation to build upon. We must strive to believe that we might see.
