Deu 1:6-8, 6 The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. 7 Turn and take your journey, and go to …the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. 8 See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.’
It took Israel 3 months to travel to mount Sinai/Horeb (Exo 19:1) from Egypt, and 40 yrs dwelling there (Deu 1:3). For Israel, Egypt was a land of LESS than enough. For His own glory, God was moving them from less than enough to more than enough.
In the wilderness, God protected and provided for them, He gave them JUST enough. It is at this mountain in the wilderness that they became territorial, paralyzed and lost focus. God planned to lead them to a land of MORE than enough (Canaan) but it called for total trust in God something they struggled with. We learn here to never make permanent dwelling on a temporal grounds (just enough). More than enough should serve as faith booster to reset our focus. We should never shy from asking God to bless us and keep us. Blessings without keeping leads to fall. God wants to lavish us with His blessings for the glory of His name. We are to turn the blessings into praise and thanksgiving.
Where God sees and provides, He should be seen and praised. As the children of Abraham by faith, we are His heirs, and may reverently lay claim to a share in these glorious promises.
