Jas 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
James opens his epistle with salutations, and right away he proceeds to address the dilemma of mankind after sin, that is trials. He describes in vs 4 the means to go through trials, and in vs. 12 he pronounces blessings on those who endure trials. It is not the man who suffers only that is blessed, but he who endures. The one with patience and perseverance encounters all difficulties in the way of his duty without crumbling. He feels the pain of suffering and temptations, and like Paul, he prays that the thorn in the flesh be removed. And even in that prayer he yields to God that provides immeasurable grace to withstand if deliverance is delayed. God’s grace is sufficient (enough), His strength is made perfect in weakness, for when we are weak then we are strong in Him (2Co 12:9).
Blessed is the man who has the Son of God as the 4th man in the fire with him. Though the reality of the fire/trial is real and intensified, he is not consumed by it for greater is He that is in and with him than all the trials in the world before him (1Jn 4:4).
