Dan 6:6-7, 6 Then these high officials and satraps came by agreement to the king and said to him, “O King Darius, live forever! 7 All the high officials, … are agreed that the king should establish an ordinance and enforce an injunction, that whoever makes petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.
The centrality, the nucleus that held Daniel together was his spiritual life marked by prayers. He is the reason the officials proposed to the king to make a law forbidding prayers to any god for 30 days. They could not find faults with his character, and even coming against his spiritual life they realized they could not stop Daniel. The only new tactic was to try slow or delay it, that was the 30 days clause in the law.
Satan knows he cannot stop the purposes of God, he therefore must find ways to delay or frustrate us especially by getting us off our rhythm of prayer. If the rhythm was interrupted for 30 days, Daniel would be slowed or disoriented never to recover. Let’s watch and pray lest we become a prey.
