2Chr 20:3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
As king Jehoshaphat found himself stuck, he called on the King of kings. He set himself to seek the Lord’s help rather than rely on his armies. It was okay to prepare as long as he did not put his confidence in his preparation.
He set himself to pray with confidence. He had five areas he reminded himself in prayer of the Lord’s past doings (vs. 6-9). 1. He remembered how God made promises and kept them to their fathers (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob etc.) 2. He remembered that God in heaven was ruling over all the kingdoms including those against them. 3. He remembered that in the hands of God there was power and might. 4. He remembered the former victories the Lord gave His people especially Abraham 5. He remembered God’s promises that He will hear their cry. If God did it then, He can be trusted again. Psa 46:1, Psa 3:3, Psa 23:4-5, Psa 37:23. Past memories of God’s doing are testimonies to build even greater trust for the current obstacles.

Amen, brother Evans. What comes to mind now, is that by faith in the finished work on the cross at Calvary by the Lord Jesus Christ, God remembers our sins no more.
And that is hard because we tend to treat our scars as wounds.
