Dan 6:18-22, 18 Then the king … 19 came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish…20, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” 21 Then Daniel said “…22 My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, …”
The king could not sleep, he was troubled over Daniel’s fate. There is a great possibility that God gave Daniel peaceful sleep in the lions’ den. Lions were present with him the entire time. Here is what got me, God could have made away of escape for him but not so, God changed him and rendered the lions powerless to harm him.
I find it easier to pray “God change my situations so that I fit in”. I am more and more praying “Lord change me to fit in my hostile surroundings”. This prayer is vital because of the weight of its testimony (deliverance from the lions’ den verses sleeping comfortably in the lions den). Greater testimony is not in the coming out but going through. 2Cor 1:3-4 “3 Praise be to the God …the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” (NIV).
