Psa 27:14 Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
In programming there are commands and response. For the program to execute in a certain way, it needs proper commands it understands. David has in many ways learned how to get God’s attention by first learning to “Wait on the Lord…” This encouragement is both for himself and those who hear him speak. Picture this wait as that of waiters waiting on customers. David understands that this is wait is of faith, prayer, and a humble resignation to His will in serving. In such, God always responds.
He follows with the attitude to wait/serve, “…be of good courage.” Now anyone can serve with little to no heart or be a complainer. David as we all must check the spirit by which we serve. We must keep up excellent spirits in the midst of the greatest dangers and difficulties. Let your hearts be fixed, trusting in God, and your minds stayed upon Him, and then let none of these things move you. Those that wait upon the Lord have reasons to be of good courage, they are learning how to be patient without being frustrated. They know that if the can’t see God’s hands at this moment, they can trust His heart. Psa 145:18 “The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.”
