2Cor 3:4-6, 4 And we have such trust through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, …
Paul displayed his work and the means by which he accomplished them. His aim was to point men to trust and have confidence in Christ alone.
In this writing, the choice of this word “sufficiency” is important. Sufficiency simply means adequate or enough to meet a purpose. Is Christ adequate (enough) or do we have Him and plan B? To circumvent plan Jesus is to plan to fail. Does your talk and actions reflect that? In this chapter, even the appearance of self-praise and human applause is painful to the humble. They understand that it’s not by their own strength or ability but by the power of God working through them. They considered Him sufficient to accomplish His work through them. Col 1:29 “To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”, 1Cor 15:10 “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” Phi 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”
