Psa 50:15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.
We have in this text God giving assurance to His people that He is at least one call away. This call by prayer is a suitable recognition of Himself in His relation to His children. Suppose a child was in trouble, perhaps because of his doing for refusing to listen to his father. If he called his father at 2AM that he was in trouble, it would be hard for a sensible father to brush it off even if he was mad at his child. There is that human touch, that relationship aspect that is woken at the sound of trouble to say, “you are my child, I am coming to deliver you”. How many times did Israel fail God and He was angry with them but when they called, He many times delivered them?
God has here bound Himself to deliver the soul that calls on Him in time of trouble, the question is, do we call when we are in trouble? And when He answers do we glorify Him by acknowledging His doing, offering praise, testifying of His goodness (Psa 50:23), and serving Him in righteousness and true holiness continually? When we don’t PRAY the enemy PREYS. Thanks be to God who has given us the phone if you will to call on Him anytime of day or night especially when we are in trouble. Heb 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
