1Sam 17:46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you…that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel
“This day (today)” living is the present (and like a gift too). Today is easily neglected when we worry and dwell on yesterday (past) and/or dwell on tomorrow (future). God has given this today to make good use of. Plan for tomorrow but live one day at a time. Think about it, “Today is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday.” Dr. Tony Evans.
David in this chapter noticed how time had been wasted in overcoming Goliath who posed a threat to Israel for 40 days. He paralyzed the people of God each day. David upon arriving on the battle field heard the threats and would not let another day go by without trusting God in this day to overcome the obstacle. This reminds me of this song we used to sing, “One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all I’m asking from you, just give me strength to do every day what I have do, yesterday is gone sweet Jesus, and tomorrow may never be mine, Lord help me today, show me the way one day at a time”. Let the enemy rob us not of today.

Amazing how our worries of yesterday and tomorrow can take our eyes off the blessings and teachings that God has right in front of us!
And the worries is what Satan magnifies in order to defeat us
