Mat 14:22-34, 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
The wind was boisterous as Peter stepped out of the boat by faith. Not long while walking on water did he loose his focus on Christ only to be consumed with the supernatural (miracle) or fear that led to his drift.
If we become preoccupied with miracles/blessings than the giver, it is possible to begin to sink. Some mightily people used of God have taken their focus off of Christ and are but chasing miracles robbing Christ of what is rightfully His, and are now deceiving and exploiting people for money. Jesus is the giver and the object of our faith, the focus must be on Him alone.
In the midst of the drift, Peter cried to the Lord to save him. He turned his focus back on Him who enabled him do the impossible in the first place. Let us avoid this pitfall by keeping our eyes on the object of our faith. Our daily prayers, “Lord do not let us drift from focusing on You“. Heb 2:1-4, “1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.“
