Gen 40:12-23, 12 And Joseph said to him,…13 …within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your place,…according to the former manner, when you were his butler. 14 But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house... 21 Then he (Pharaoh) restored the chief butler to his butlership again, ...23 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
Joseph showed kindness to a butler in prison with him and interpreted his dream. The man was restored according to the interpretation of his dream but he forgot Joseph who had been kind to him and asked for a favor. The butler’s forgetfulness reminds us of our shameful forgetfulness of our Redeemer who brought us out of the pit and redeemed us with His precious blood. Jesus healed 10 peppers, 9 moved on with their lives without remembering the Lord, only one came back to thank Him, Luk 17:17-18 ”17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”
When you have eaten and are full, do not forget those God has used to get you where you are today especially your Redeemer. He said “…This do in remembrance of me.”
