Vitamins are described as a group of substances that are needed for normal cell function, growth, and development. Most vitamins need to come from food because the body either does not produce them or produces very little. This information shows the importance of vitamins because they are required for the body to work properly.
Faith is the foundation God lays, and it continues to grow. Peter encourages believers to make every effort to supplement/add to their faith virtue. These supplements/vitamins if you will are added in order to complete or remedy the deficiencies in a person such as diet. To their faith, Peter urges believers to add virtue. Virtue is moral excellence, it is the means by which people see the evidence of your faith (the outworking of the internal). Vs. 5 “…To virtue knowledge“ “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Prov 1:7), which is understanding through experience or training. There can be no growth in faith without virtue fueled by the knowledge of Him. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
