2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work
Scripture is not a secondary but primary issue. We don’t start from outside the word for identity, we look to Christ and His word to be complete and equipped for every good work.
To quote Paul Washer “…When you come to believe as a people that the Bible is inspired, you have only fought 1/2 the battle because the question is not merely is the Bible inspired, is it inerrant? The major question following that must be answered: Is the Bible sufficient …” Most Christian bookstores are filled with self-help books with little pointing it’s readers to study the word of God. They don’t deny the inspiration of the Bible or its inherency, it’s sufficiency to address our day that is questioned. Self-help books are secondary, supplements not substitutes. The Word of God takes precedent as authoritative and sufficient.
