Gen 30:25-26, 25 As soon as Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “…26 Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, that I may go, for you know the service that I have given you.
Jacob’s committed years of service to Laban for his two daughters had been fulfilled. Laban’s labor was hard, he cheated Jacob many times, first with Rachel, yet Jacob honestly and faithfully performed his duties. In faithfully serving, God blessed him with wives, children, servants, livestock and goods. God also made him a blessing to Laban (vs 27). After years of service, he made a conscious decision to return to his country and establish an independence and serve his family faithfully without restrictions from Laban, his father in-law.
Faithfulness by far is the greatest quality of a good man. Though he swear to his own hurt, he will not change. And though others deceive him this will not justify him to deceive them. Our rule is to do to others as we would desire of the same. Faithfulness is not reduced to favorable situations but at all times in every place, God blesses faithfulness. Pro 28:20 “A faithful man will abound with blessings…” You must desire to be the change you want to see.
