2Ki 6:8-10, 8 Once when the king of Syria was warring against Israel, he took counsel with his servants, saying, “At such and such a place shall be my camp.” 9 But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are going down there.” 10 And the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God told him. Thus he used to warn him, so that he saved himself there more than once or twice.
The world is hostile, enemies war against believers. God has a battle plan and strategies for believers, but they don’t make sense and are often unconventional in our judgment. We must learn by His word how best to deal with our enemies. As we see, Syria frustrated Israel, their mission was to wipe out Israel. The advantage Israel had was prophet Elisha. God showed him Syria’s battle plan and how to avoid war by warning Israel to change direction. That saved them from casualties more than once.
The Elisha of our time is God’s word by His Spirit, “And so we have the prophetic word (scripture) confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (2Pe 1:19).
