John 15:4- 5, 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, …
To “Abide/remain in Me” is simply explained as saved and kept by God. Salvation is of the Lord, we don’t accept Him, He accepts us and we in response receive His acceptance. The Father draws to the Vine (the Son). John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…,” And the keeping power is also of the Lord – “… As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me”. Rom 11:18 “do not boast against the branches…, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you”. “…He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing”
The more fruit we bring forth, the more we abound in what is good, the more our Lord is glorified. To be fruitful, we must remain in Christ, have union with Him by faith (relationship/fellowship), depend upon Him, and commune with Him (Gal 4).
