Gen 40:8 “And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God?…41:16, “So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”
Joseph had not understood or realized the meaning and the purpose for his dream but had confidence in God’s faithfulness and timing. He assured the 2 men in prison with him that God would reveal the interpretations of their dreams, in this giving God all the glory. Pharaoh’s dream was also interpreted by Joseph who credited the ability to God. Joseph appears to have been building a house for the baker, the butler and Pharaoh, but God was preparing him, he was building his own house. He built them with excellence in spite of the delayed in realization of the meaning and interpretation of his dream.
Serving others was the revelation of his one time dream and not being served as he thought (people bowing before him). Jesus said “44 And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mar 10:44-45). 1Cor 4:2, “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
