Rom 1-5, 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, …
A believer who understands his destination has a different mindset. He is like an athlete racing to the finish line. He may occasionally think of the present, but he is not entangled or held by it. The thought of the finish line gives him the ability to endure, and what he faces cannot be compared to what awaits him. He has faith that hindrances are temporal and challenges are but for a season. He, therefore, flexes his muscles and continues to run until the end.
With this understanding “3 …we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint…,” why? “…because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” as fuel for our endurance.
