Deu 1:6-7, 6 The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.
The Israelites journeyed out of Egypt to Mount Sinai. The first stop God set aside for His worship at this mountain before making it to the Promised Land. It took them about 3 months to get to the mountain and they dwelt there 40 years. From a land of bondage, and of less than enough, and of hard labor, the Israelites at this mountain in the wilderness were cared for, protected, and provided for. They became too territorial and comfortable. They had come from a land where the Lord fought for them; the time had come for the Lord to fight through them. They became paralyzed and complainers. Their destination required total trust and confidence in God, they were not ready.
Are we just glad to be out of Egypt but too comfortable to move forward? Progress may mean battles on the way, subduing territories. It’s not for the faint hearted or sure people but confident people in their God. To be stuck is to build a permanent dwelling on temporal grounds.
