Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.”
King Agrippa was convinced even though he may have tried to silence his conscious. His eyes had been opened, what he knew made him accountable, however his actions shows he rejected it. Acts 26:28 reads, “Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” This was like getting engaged and almost being married but not. Almost is never good enough. Almost is like being on the finish line but not crossing over or schooling but not graduating.
The king thought this was something by his power he could achieve or make it work, but Paul had this to say to him, “I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains” (Acts 26:29). Paul appealed to God who has the power to convict and convert. It’s like one knowing that only the governor has the power to pardon one on death row. Salvation is the gift and the work of God, but we must cast ourselves into the able hands who has opened our eyes to the truth of our sins and inability in order that He may forgive and release us from this prison, only God can.
