The Manoah’s were childless before they had Samson. An Angel, the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife to give her good tidings of this child to be born to them. She and her husband were given instructions on how to prepare and raise this child.
No parent has all the answers on how to raise their children. Every parent go through preparation, some training. They learn how to feed, clothe, handle, monitor the health of the baby etc. If they are not informed, how shall they benefit the baby? The Manoah’s felt inadequate and sought God’s help to teach them how to raise God’s gift to them. David had one simple prayer with 3 powerful points in Psa 25:4-5, #1. show me, #2. teach me, #3. guide me. It is progressive prayer. We pray that God shows us, and what He shows, He must teach us to understand. Then we pray that He guides (leads) us in what He teaches us. We are children ourselves that need that continuous showing, teaching and guiding. God will not fail to guide those by His counsel that are sincerely desirous to know their duty.
