Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
Paul in three verses gives instructions to the wives, and to the husbands, he has more to say in eight verses. Husbands are commanded to love their wives. Three times in three diffrent ways he admonishes men to love their wives. Without love, men would abuse their headship position.
In this, husbands love because God is love and His demonstration is that of sacrifice. This is love is largely outlined in 1Cor 13:4-8 “4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails…”
The love of Christ to the church is proposed as an example of the husband. It is sincere, pure, and constant affection, and that notwithstanding the imperfections and failures his wife is guilty of.
The greatness of His love to the church appeared in His giving Himself unto the death for her. This is the highest form of love, sacrificial, it is faithfulness, it is love committed. Husbands take matching orders from Christ and His example and live out their true calling.

A timely reminder, brother Evans. of our excellent example found in the love of Jesus for us, his bride.
