Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, …
The use of the word “days” continue to convince me of literal days such as Jonah was in the belly of a fish 3 days, Jesus was dead 3 days, Lazarus was 4 days dead all are literal days to show consistency in the use of day.
Let’s take a look at the order of creation because day 5 and day 6 would pose a king-size problem for the old earth creation view. Night and Day (Day 1); Sky and Sea (Day 2); Land and Vegetation (Day 3); Stars, Sun and Moon (Day 4); Sea creatures including fish and Birds (Day 5). Animals and Mankind ((Day 6), and Rest (Day 6).
Observe the 5th day creation, Gen 1:20, “And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth…” 21 So God created the great sea creatures…, and every winged bird according to its kind. ..22 And God blessed them, saying, “….” 23 And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.” Let suppose the creation took along time, then in day 5 the birds and sea creatures would have been the only creatures on earth for along period of time before day 6 which man and land animals were created. Then here again we see the use of the words “morning and evening” are significant in making the case. Furthermore, take notice that God could have created all living creatures in one day but He chose not to.I see the brilliance of God in addressing objections by how He broke the creation days before they ever arose.
