Col 3:22-23, 22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God 23, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.
Joseph’s dream job was not to serve in Portipha’s house, yet we take notice of his hard work, obedience and faithfulness in serving. God was with him. He turned disappointments into appointments.
Paul gives instructions to servants to obey their masters and do assigned duties whole heartedly with the Lord in mind. The instructions are not for happy times or happy jobs, it is faithfulness at all times as we see with Joseph. I am convinced God allows some jobs not as punishment but training grounds for character enlargement, obedience and faithfulness. To be enlarged without character development is a recipe for disaster. A structure without strong foundation is destined to crumble. If you can be faithful where you are, you can trust God for where you want to be. If we know we are pleasing a boss we can see to please the Boss (Master) we can’t see, our attitude towards work will be different.
