Rom 8:35-37, 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…
Paul then goes on to show that the love of God is unaffected by even the most extreme changes of our condition-neither death, nor life. It is not our love for Christ that Paul mentions here but God’s love for us. It is not our holding onto God that keeps us but His holding on to us, andHe won’t let go.
This is the strongest ground of assurance to be convinced that His love will never change. You can’t do anything to make Christ love you more or less, and no happenings in your life can diminish it. You may go through tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword yet God’s love is not threatened or diminished by them. vs. 36 “As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Quoted as descriptive of what God’s faithful people may expect from their enemies at any period when hated for righteousness sake, yet in Him we overcome by the aid of him that loved us. God’s love brings contentment.
