Pro 31:11-12, 11 The heart of her husband safely trust hers her; so he will have no lack again, 12 she does him good and not evil all the days of her life
The proverb “Obedience is better than sacrifice” is seen in the life of Ruth. She left her home to follow Naomi she was once related to by marriage. After Ruth’s husband (Naomi’s son) died, nothing was left to bind them together yet even death could not break their bond. Ruth faithfully followed Naomi, submitting to her and receiving her wise counsel because she was obedient, Rut 3:5 “And she said to her (Naomi), “All that you say to me, I will do”, never complaining.
Boaz who later married Ruth took note of her, Ruth 2:11-12 “11…it has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother in law since the death of your husband…, 12 The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel“. Her character displayed in obedience opened doors for greater things. Naomi could trust Ruth to do her good and not evil for the rest of her days. Because of what Boaz heard and saw, he married Ruth and safely trusted her to do him good as she did for Naomi.
