Psa 27:4-5, 4 One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. 5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.
The priority of David was not to seek the hand of God for provisions but to seek the face of God, as in constant attendance upon God. That is serving God for who He is rather than serving Him for what He could do for David. Jesus in Mat 16:33 puts into perspective what is termed as priority, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” That is to say, singly aim for this over your needs that He already knows before you ask. Seek His reign in your heart, leading you in the paths and righteousness. And indeed whosoever seeks this first, will soon come to seek this only. The discovery in terms of prioty becomes this, you have a great need for Christ which then translates to you have a great Christ for your needs.
This was David’s desire to see God . The secret of his confidence was his delight in communion with God. To dwell in the house of the Lord was more than a place but a conscious state of awareness that He is ever present. A child who seeks the father, knows his father is not far to be found. The desire to connect with him drives him to find him.
