The book of Lamentations is very dark, gloomy and full of sadness, bordering on despair. It has its rare moments of gleams of hope that God’s people despite of their dark days are not forgotten.
God’s immovable never ceasing love holds us through every stage of life. When we are in distress we should, for the encouragement of our faith and hope, observe what makes us well and that is “… his anger is but for a moment, and His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”(Psa 30:5). Let us ponder all the great things that God will do for them that trust Him for “In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul”(Psa 94:19). Each morning we will be embraced by His love and His mercies (plural) and His comforts (plural) will meet us at the door. If only we would turn from our griefs to the love, mercies, comforts, compassions, and goodness of the Lord, there would be light in our darkest dungeons.
