Jer 10:21 For the shepherds have become dull-hearted, And have not sought the LORD; Therefore they shall not prosper, And all their flocks shall be scattered.
A shepherd’s primary responsibility is to lead and tend to the flock. The shepherd’s office requires considerable amount of watchfulness, particularly by night. It further requires tenderness toward the young and feeble seeking the way. Any shepherd, pastor, preacher who tells you all will be well, God is there for you, blessings will just flow but is not teaching you the word, how to seek God first, obey Him, build character, is deceiving you and will not lead you in what he is not practicing himself.
Jesus said, Matt 6:33 “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added”. God first is the priority for all believers, the blessings according to the verse are added and will flow according to the counsel of His will not the shepherds’. Think of vast number of believers that are immature in their walk with the Lord, and find it hard to endure the walk of faith whenever the promises by a preacher are delayed or denied. You need to be careful that you are not sitting under shepherds that tickle ears and entertain, for 2Pe 2:18-19 “18…they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness,… 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption;…” Listen and test all that you hear with an open bible as you consider staying or moving.

We can’t preach it unless we live it.
