Deu 3:24 ‘O Lord GOD, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours? ESV
Moses the servant of the Lord had 3 stages of life, 40 years living and serving in Egypt, 40 years in the land of the Midianites as a shepherd, husband and father. Then another 40 years as a leader and a prophet in the wilderness. This man Moses had seen God in every stage of his life. Now he is looking forward to another chapter of his life across the river Jordan, the land of Canaan, the promised land. But then the Lord forbids him from making it there. That is because he became angry and sinned because of the people.
He pleads with the Lord; he says Lord you have “just began” to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand (your glory). It was like 120 years was just a foretaste, just a beginning. He had seen great things, but still greater things were on the horizon. Moses was not done living and his drive for living was far beyond personal gain, “for to me, to live is Christ…” (Ph 1:21). He desired to see God in another dimension. When he could not make it, he gave final instructions later to the Israelites “…I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live” (Deu 30:19). He gave choices and instructed them of which one to choose “life”. Listen to David “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living!” ((Psa 27:13). The more we see of God’s glory in His works the more we shall desire to see more in every stage of our lives. The works of the Lord are great, and therefore are sought out more and more of all those that have pleasure therein.
